NaturZoo Rheine

NaturZoo Rheine is located in the north of the city of Rheine in Münsterland. Together with the Saline Gottesgabe, the Bentlage Monastery and the surrounding Bentlage Forest, it forms a local recreation area. The zoo covers an area of 13 hectares with about 93 animal species. NaturZoo Rheine is especially known for its collection of waterfowl and primates. The zoo has the largest group of geladas in Europe. The zoo, which is the studbook keeper of these animals, keeps 2 groups of geladas. Furthermore, the zoo also has a large group of Barbary macaques , which live in an enclosure that visitors can walk through. Other primates in NaturZoo Rheine are bearded monkeys and several species of lemurs and claw monkeys.
