Conques is located at the confluence of the rivers Dourdou de Conques and Ouche. It is built on a hillside and has classic narrow medieval streets. Since 1982 Conques is classified among the most beautiful villages of France. St. Foy Abbey-church and the pilgrims' bridge, both historical monuments, are registered in the World Heritage of Humanity list by the UNESCO for the Route to Santiago de Compostela in France.
