Stećci are medieval stone monuments found on almost the intire territory of the present Bosnia and Herzegovina, in western parts of Serbia, the northwest parts of Montenegro and in southern parts of Croatia. The stećci are mostly carved from limestone. They feature a wide range of decorative motifs and inscriptions that represent iconographic continuities within medieval Europe as well as locally distinctive traditions. The stećci are exceptional testimony to the spiritual, artistic and historical aspects of the medieval cultures of southeastern Europe, an area where traditions and influences of the European west, east and south entwined with earlier traditions. Stećci are inscribed into World Heritage List by UNESCO since 2016, with a selection of some 4,000 individual monoliths, grouped in necropolises at 28 locations. The site St. Barbara is located on a hill near village Dubravka. With 104 tombstones, it represents the largest preserved medieval necropolis in the Konavle region, dated in the 14th and 15th century.
